'Hero' father drowns saving his 12-year-old son from rip current at popular beach destination, family says

Jason DeGray, a father from Connecticut, drowned while attempting to save his 12-year-old son from a rip current at Cocoa Beach, Florida. A good Samaritan also died during the rescue, while a local lifeguard shortage was cited as a contributing factor to the tragedy.
