Lidl overtakes Morrisons to become fifth largest supermarket in UK
Lidl has surpassed Morrisons to become the UK's fifth-largest supermarket, driven by an 8.8% annual sales increase as households seek to manage expenses. The German-owned discounter achieved a record 8.6% market share, compared to Morrisons' 8.3% and 1.3% growth, according to Worldpanel by Numerator data for the 12 weeks ending 17 May.
