‘One-Way Ticket’: Nigerians Promised Russian Jobs, Sent by Kremlin to Die in Ukraine
A Nigerian national, Ayebusiwa Olabode Victor, was killed fighting for Russia in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region after being lured with job promises. Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) claims this reflects a Russian recruitment scheme targeting African citizens, who are instead forced into military contracts and deployed to frontline areas.
