Germany was the largest exporter of plastic waste in 2025, sending 810,000 tonnes overseas, while the UK followed with 675,000 tonnes. Much of the waste was exported to Turkey, Malaysia, and Indonesia, according to analysis by Watershed Investigations and the Basel Action Network.
