AI data centers may soon ride ocean waves

Panthalassa, a company, has raised $140 million to develop autonomous, floating AI computing nodes powered by ocean waves, with a total funding of $210 million. The company plans to deploy its Ocean-3 pilot node series in the northern Pacific Ocean later in 2026. This innovative approach aims to generate electricity from wave motion and use seawater for cooling.
