Chatbots at the drive-thru are just the beginning

McDonald's introduced AI chatbots at their drive-thru in 2021, starting with 10 locations in Chicago. The technology was developed after acquiring Apprente, a startup focused on voice-based conversational technology. This marks an early adoption of AI in the fast-food industry.
