Uninsured rate for young children at highest level in nearly a decade

The uninsured rate for U.S. children under 6 rose 23% between 2022 and 2024, with 220,000 more children uninsured in 2024. North Carolina maintained lower rates through slow Medicaid disenrollment and a waiver for continuous coverage, but nationally, declining Medicaid/CHIP enrollment has increased child uninsured rates.
