Some ancient microbes frozen with Ötzi the Iceman are still growing

Ötzi the Iceman's remains host microbes, including cold-adapted yeast species still alive after 5,300 years. Scientists sampled his body and environment to study these microbes, including material from his stomach, skin, and a 1991 block of frozen alpine soil near his body.
