Anti-Burnham fake news on Makerfield Facebook accounts has surged, report finds – UK politics live
A report by the Social Market Foundation found that nearly one in six news posts in local Facebook groups during the Makerfield byelection campaign were false, with misinformation heavily targeting Labour and its candidate Andy Burnham. The share of misinformation increased fourfold from 4% to 16% during the campaign.
