Jefferson County's Genesee community opens new emergency evacuation route after 20 years of planning

Jefferson County's Genesee community opened a new 1.1-mile emergency evacuation route after 20 years of planning to address wildfire risks. The road, funded by an $8 million taxpayer-approved bond, provides a third exit and has already been used three times for medical emergencies since its May opening.
