Broward County pushes master plan as waste crisis nears tipping point

Broward County is addressing a growing solid waste crisis through a 40-year master plan by the Solid Waste Authority, aiming to reduce waste, boost recycling, and manage landfill capacity. The plan, supported by 15 municipalities and Broward County, seeks to control rising costs and environmental impacts by combining resources and improving recycling rates from below 30% to state goals of 70-75%.
