NHM confirms seven Japanese encephalitis deaths in Assam this year
The National Health Mission (NHM) has confirmed seven Japanese encephalitis (JE) deaths in Assam this year. Assam accounts for 62% of 985 JE deaths in India since 2018, prompting government efforts to strengthen surveillance, case management, hospital preparedness, and vaccination coverage ahead of the peak JE season.
