Deadly Philippines quake permanently alters Mindanao coastline
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake in the southern Philippines, caused by shifting in the Cotabato Trench, altered the Mindanao coastline by exposing submerged coral and caused at least 76 deaths. The June 8 quake triggered landslides and building collapses.
