Benin, Africa’s largest cotton producer, is working to improve infrastructure to transport cotton from northern growing regions to southern ports and processing plants. With China’s assistance, the country aims to reshape its cotton industry by developing the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone to process cotton instead of exporting it raw.
