Trump administration probe could upend widely used transgender youth treatment guidelines
The Federal Trade Commission and multiple state attorneys general are suing the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), alleging its guidelines for transgender youth treatments lack sufficient evidence. The lawsuit claims WPATH promoted its Standards of Care as evidence-based despite internal admissions of research gaps, including from lead authors who acknowledged limited data supporting recommendations for puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries for minors.
