Ethiopia's ruling party retains parliamentary majority in election marred by insecurity

Ethiopia's ruling Prosperity Party retained a parliamentary majority with 438 seats in the June 1 election, despite insecurity in Oromia and Amhara regions that closed 143 polling stations. The Tigray region, excluded from the election for six years, remained unrepresented, while opposition groups criticized the election as unfree and unfair due to repression and intimidation.
