Hong Kong hands out $180m in baby bonuses to raise birthrate
Hong Kong has distributed $180 million in baby bonuses since 2023 to 71,866 parents of newborns, aiming to raise the city’s fertility rate, which was 0.841 in 2024. The program, set to expire in October 2026, includes tax measures, expanded childcare services, and increased assisted reproductive treatment quotas.
