Trinamool rebels removed Mamata as the party chairperson. Abhishek Banerjee was removed as party general secretary, and Arup Roy was unanimously selected as the new chairperson. The decision was made by rebel MLAs led by Ritabrata Banerjee, who claims support from 65 out of 80 MLAs.
