Orange County loses ‘tireless advocate’ with death of Commissioner Bedford

Orange County Commissioner Jamezetta Bedford, known for her advocacy for children with disabilities and community leadership, died unexpectedly at 67 from complications following hernia surgery. She served on the Board of County Commissioners since 2018 and previously on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education for 12 years. The county will begin a process in August or September to replace her seat.
