US forces conducted sea-drone rescue drills years before a real-world mission to save two soldiers after their Apache helicopter was shot down by Iran. The rescue, using an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) operated by Task Force 59, marked the first operational use of such technology for medical evacuations in the US military.
