Martin County man recognized for heroism after saving wife from alligator attack in 2025

Kelby Perren, a 33-year-old man from Martin County, Florida, was recognized by the Carnegie Hero Fund for saving his wife from a nearly 10-foot alligator attack in July 2025. He rescued his wife, Amber Perren, during a tug-of-war struggle in the St. Lucie River, and she later returned to work after multiple surgeries.
