BJP faces a challenging situation in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation as 20 councillors, including R. Sugathan accused by KAAPA, are required to retake their oaths. Deputy Mayor G.S. Ashanath and councillor R. Vinod took their oaths in January in the name of Bharath Matha, while others used 'balidaanis' or local deities for their oaths.
