NC House Republicans override Gov. Stein’s vetoes on anti-DEI and pro-ICE bills
North Carolina House Republicans overrode Governor Josh Stein’s vetoes on four bills targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices in education and state agencies and mandating cooperation with ICE. The overrides occurred on party-line votes, with two Democratic representatives absent, reducing the required threshold for passage. Three of the bills became law, while a fourth awaits Senate action.
