Bahrain cracks down on Shiite Muslims

Bahrain imposed restrictions on its Shiite community ahead of a major holiday, stripping 69 Shiites and their relatives of citizenship and attempting to deport them to Iran. Public mourning for Iran’s late supreme leader was also banned, with similar crackdowns reported in Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE against Iran-linked groups.
