‘Doesn’t stop the pain’: Woman found not guilty by insanity in daughter’s drowning case speaks out
Precious Bland was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the drowning death of her 1-year-old daughter and the attempted murders of her husband and teenage daughter. Authorities stated Bland, who suffered from self-inflicted stab wounds and claimed to hear voices instructing her to baptize her family, was diagnosed with COVID-19-induced psychosis. Her attorney argued her actions were due to mental defects caused by the virus, marking one of the first successful COVID-related insanity defenses in the U.S.
