Brazil’s Company Tax ID Gets Letters From July 1
Brazil will start issuing company tax IDs (CNPJ) with alphanumeric characters from July 1, replacing purely numeric IDs. The new format retains 14 characters, with the first 12 (root and branch) becoming alphanumeric and the last two check digits remaining numeric. Existing CNPJs will remain valid.
