[US] I’ve been scammed multiple times but I don’t understand the motive of the scammers

A man in his late twenties was scammed through impersonation on social media platforms, involving content exchange and anxiety over potential extortion. The impersonator, later revealed to be fraudulently using another woman's identity, caused distress without demanding money or threats.
