Hong Kong, mainland police smash HK$16.8 million cross-border phishing syndicate

Hong Kong police and mainland authorities dismantled a cross-border phishing syndicate that defrauded victims of HK$16.8 million by impersonating the Water Supplies Department, leading to 15 arrests between March and June. The operation, named Operation Boldhawk, targeted criminals sending malicious text messages to residents.
