Israel says troops will occupy southern Lebanon

Israel’s defense minister, Israel Katz, instructed the military to prepare for a prolonged occupation in southern Lebanon’s security zone. Israel and Lebanon agreed to a US-brokered framework to end hostilities and transfer territory to the Lebanese army, but Katz stated Israel will not withdraw unless Hezbollah disarms across Lebanon.
