STAT+: AI scientist company Edison Scientific tapped by team behind Metsera to create new biotechs

Edison Scientific, a spin-off from AI scientist company FutureHouse, was created in late 2025 with $70 million in venture funding after pharmaceutical companies showed interest in their AI agents for drug discovery. FutureHouse, founded in 2023 by Sam Rodriques and Andrew White, initially aimed to scale scientific discovery through AI agents but pivoted to a commercial product due to demand from the pharmaceutical industry.
