Guatemala Buries 68 War Victims, 44 Years On
On June 29, the remains of 68 conflict victims were reburied in San Martín Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango, Guatemala. The victims, mostly Maya civilians including children and the elderly, were killed by the army in 1982. The remains were exhumed between 1998 and 2014 and held without a permanent resting place for years.
