Longtime state prosecutor found dead after falling into lake

North, a 64-year-old assistant district attorney in Jefferson County's Bessemer Cutoff and a supervisor in Judge David Carpenter's court, was found dead after falling into Logan Martin Lake during a boat race. He was serving as a spotter for the Pell City Sail Club when the incident occurred, and multiple agencies were involved in the search before his body was recovered.
