Rockaway Beach reopens after intermittent closures following multiple shark sightings
Rockaway Beach reopened at 3:30 p.m. after intermittent closures due to multiple confirmed bull shark sightings off the Queens coastline. The NYC Emergency Management Department issued a warning, and the Parks Department confirmed no further sightings before reopening. Hempstead beaches also closed and reopened following a 9-foot shark sighting.
