Hong Kong man convicted of manslaughter over fatal weight-loss beating

A Hong Kong man was convicted of manslaughter after beating his girlfriend to death, but jurors acquitted him of murder, accepting his claim that the attack occurred while he attempted to help her lose weight by keeping her awake. The High Court jury ruled 5:2 on the murder charge but unanimously convicted him of manslaughter.
