Israeli NGO warns Gaza hospital director’s life is in danger in detention
An Israeli medical NGO warned that Kamal Adwan Hospital director Abu Safia faces a grave risk to his life after months in Israeli detention. Physicians for Human Rights Israel reported a sharp decline in his health during a visit to the Rakefet interrogation facility, urging his immediate transfer and a judicial assessment. Abu Safia was detained during a 2024 raid on the hospital and is held under Israel’s Unlawful Combatant Law, which allows indefinite detention without charges.
