Stupidly fell for the "YOU'RE INVITED !!!" invite scam. What happens when you click the link but then close the tab?

A user clicked a suspicious 'View the Card' link from a scam email but immediately closed the tab, did not enter personal information, and is running Sophos antivirus on their Mac to check for threats. The email appeared to come from a known contact but was identified as a scam.
