Federal regulators begin review of plans for small nuclear reactors at Palisades plant
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is reviewing a proposal to build two small modular reactors at the Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan. Holtec Palisades, supported by federal and state funding, plans to deploy the SMR-300 models at the site, which also involves restarting the plant's decommissioned reactor. The project faces opposition from anti-nuclear advocates concerned about safety risks.
