Conservation sees urial rebounding in Salt Range

The Punjab urial population in the Salt Range is rebounding, with herds growing from 3,700 in 2018 to 6,891 in 2023 due to conservation efforts by the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department. Despite remaining vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, improved habitat safety and protection measures have led to increased sightings of the species in Jhelum and Chakwal districts.
