An Altadena woman whose home was damaged in the 2025 Eaton Fire reported being scammed by an unlicensed contractor who collected $18,000 but failed to complete repairs. Pamelia Lawson stated the contractor approached her after the fire, which affected over 1,000 properties, and promised repairs at a reasonable price.
