One in four Israelis now engages in harmful substance use, driven by psychological stress from Israel’s war in Gaza and regional conflicts, with drug misuse rates rising sharply since October 2023. The Israeli Centre for Addiction and Mental Health reports increased use of sedatives, opiates, stimulants, alcohol, and cannabis, particularly among those with post-traumatic stress disorder.
