Mother charged after unlicensed 15-year-old kills pedestrian, injures another in Rockford
Charlotte Free Breton is facing criminal charges for allowing her unlicensed 15-year-old daughter to drive in Rockford following a May 3 crash near Ash Street. The van struck two women walking on the sidewalk: Laura Leigh Bachinski, who died at the scene, and Renee Delong, who was seriously injured. Deputies found that the vehicle had no signs of braking or turning marks.
