Aug. 13: CSX Transportation Acquittal; Heat Advisory Extended
A jury unanimously acquitted CSX Transportation of wrongdoing concerning the August 2021 Waverly flood. Separately, the National Weather Service extended a heat advisory for Middle Tennessee west of the Cumberland Plateau due to high temperatures and heat indices reaching 110 degrees or higher. Additionally, Darrell Hines' legal team filed a motion in federal court requesting accommodations regarding his stroke-affected left arm before his scheduled execution.
