Minneapolis Public Schools considering a preliminary levy

Minneapolis Public Schools is expected to approve a preliminary levy after reviewing a report that found internal processes are slow, poorly documented, and rely on individual employee knowledge. The district faces the challenge of setting a levy that pays for services without placing an undue burden on property taxpayers. Furthermore, Mayor Jacob Frey previously proposed an 11.3% increase intended to close a $60 million budget gap.
