Iran and Oman hold talks on managing the Strait of Hormuz and other news from around the Middle East
Top diplomats from Iran and Oman met to discuss a phased approach for managing ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a joint statement proposing a “joint temporary navigational corridor.” The countries plan technical negotiations toward establishing a permanent shipping route. Separately, an oil tanker was disabled by a strike off Oman’s eastern coast while the region faces ongoing geopolitical tensions involving other global powers.
