Fewer Teachers, Even Fewer Students: See What’s Happening in 9,500 Districts

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that public education lost 50,000 jobs between June and July. Analyzing data for over 9,500 districts showed that while employment declined by 11,000 teachers, the districts served 225,000 fewer students overall. Consequently, the student-to-teacher ratio continued to decline in most parts of the country.
