A 25-year-old Detroit man, Earnest Square, has been bound over for trial on two 15-year felony charges related to a fatal hit-and-run crash in Warren that killed a pedestrian on Van Dyke Avenue. Square allegedly fled the scene without stopping, providing aid, or contacting emergency services, and prosecutors claim he never obtained a valid driver’s license. The victim died the day after the May 16 incident, and Square’s bond was reduced to $50,000 with a GPS tether ahead of his August 17 arraignment.

A 31-year-old man, Walter Smith, was arraigned on nine charges after allegedly brandishing a gun and threatening three hospital workers outside Henry Ford Hospital. The incident occurred on June 3, leading to a brief lockdown, and Smith was arrested later that day. He faces charges including assault with a dangerous weapon and is already on federal probation for unrelated offenses.
