The US has formed a partnership with 24 countries, including Australia, Germany, Japan, and the UK, to coordinate 6G strategies and prevent Chinese dominance in telecommunications. The initiative, led by the Trump administration, involves companies like Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung and precedes a UN conference in Shanghai next year to set international standards for wireless networks.

China’s 6G engineers developed a metasurface system called DISACM that uses walls and pipes as sensors to bounce wireless signals and detect movement, earning a gold award at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva.

The Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance (NGMN) urges a streamlined 6G rollout to avoid the fragmented 5G deployment issues seen in countries like the UK. It emphasizes simplified network architectures, single-release 3GPP standards, and Multi-RAT Spectrum Sharing (MRSS) to enable 5G and 6G coexistence, ensuring cost-effective migration and reducing market confusion.

ZTE and partners co-organized the 2026 Engineering Capacity Building Program (Information & Communication Engineering) in Shenzhen, training over 60 ICT engineers from 20 countries. The program included technical exchanges, workshops, and site visits to ZTE's headquarters and SenseTime, focusing on digital and intelligent engineering practices.
