    Amid geopolitical instability, Gulf countries are engaging in a parallel infrastructure race driven by AI ambitions to secure data flow. Currently, over 90% of Europe–Asia data traffic passes through the Suez Canal region. To bypass chokepoints, UAE, Saudi, and Qatar are building alternative routes, such as Ooredoo Group's Fibre in the Gulf (FIG) system, which aims to link six GCC states and Iraq.

    Qatar’s Ooredoo, Nvidia, and Nokia unveil multi-billion-dollar AI compute platform—and Southeast Asia is their target

    Ooredoo Group is developing Zankore, Indonesia’s first dedicated AI compute and neocloud platform through an alliance with Nvidia, Nokia, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH). This platform aims to contract 1 gigawatt of AI capacity over the next three years, which is expected to generate around $13 billion in revenue. As a lead investor, Ooredoo Group is committing $800 million over five years to support Zankore’s development.
