Following an incident where a neighbor was scammed out of $30,000 using a deepfake video on Facebook, George Mason student Lakshmi Katrapati launched the initiative Word by World. She now visits senior centers across the D.C.-area to teach older adults how to spot AI scams and understand artificial intelligence technology.

Transit police are searching for a passenger who allegedly attacked a Metrobus driver by repeatedly punching him after a verbal exchange. The attack resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to the operator, and WMATA stated that the incident remains under investigation. WMATA is also reportedly looking into equipping buses with full protective shields.
