James Lawhorn, a resident of Wasilla, Alaska, was charged with seven counts of making threats in interstate commerce and one count of stalking. The alleged threats, which were racist, anti-Muslim, and anti-LGBTQ+ language, targeted Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud. A leading Islamic advocacy organization welcomed the charges, urging authorities to ensure that anyone responsible for making credible threats is held accountable.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson kicked off her general election campaign at a small business roundtable in Detroit, embracing Abdul El-Sayed’s message of affordability. She told reporters that while lowering costs for healthcare and housing is key, true affordability also requires increasing wages to address stagnation. Joining the event was Kentucky Gov.
